Grade 11 trip to Ancient Olympia

34 students in the 11th grade participated in the IB / CP Retreat which took place in the area of Ancient Olympia between October 13-16, 2018. They were accompanied by our teachers: Ms. Pateras, Ms. Sykioti, Dr. Choudaverdis, Ms. Voulgaris, Ms. Apostolidis and Ms. Grammatikou. Our students engaged in meaningful and experiential activities in the area, part of which satisfy IB requirements. The trip included visits to the Center for Children with Chronic Illness in Lehaina, as well as the Home for the Elderly in Pyrgos. The students delivered the goods that had been collected and these were met with great appreciation. Moreover, the students engaged in Science experiments, art activities, and volunteer work at Lake Kaiafa, Alfeios dam, and the Botanical garden. They attended daily workshops in CAS, Language, Sciences, and they took part in a Socratic Seminar. The students also offered monetary donations to the Botanical garden and to the two institutions. The trip was conducted in collaboration with ACS students, in line with the IB philosophy, which values collaboration among schools. This event has become a tradition in our school. This was the third consecutive year that grade 11 students had this opportunity and it was fully enjoyed by all!
