6.The International School of Athens is seeking to hire an experienced University Placement Advisor.
Position Overview
The primary responsibility of this role is to collaborate closely with the DP/CP Coordinator in assisting students with the university application process. This involves the following key tasks:
- Providing structured advice and counseling to high school students regarding the completion and submission of university applications.
- Offering guidance on alternative university applications for students who may not be progressing through the standard path.
- Regularly monitoring application statuses and providing pertinent advice to students.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with universities in the UK, Europe, and the USA, and facilitating communication regarding student applications.
- Delivering well-informed training and advice to students on subject selections for the last two years of High School, as well as guidance on university selections and requirements.
- Tracking and recording information about students' final destinations for school administration data.
Key Responsibilities
The core responsibilities associated with this role include:
- Assisting students throughout the entire university application process to ensure successful progression to university.
- Maintaining records of university placements and monitoring the success of placements and progression to higher education for ISA students.
- Conducting workshops and training sessions on various stages of the UCAS application process, such as drafting personal statements and making decisions on courses and universities.
- Organizing and coordinating visits to and from universities, as well as updating students on upcoming university fairs.
- Ensuring timely submission of applications through UCAS or other systems in different countries for all eligible students.
- Coordinating staff input in the university placement process, including predicted grades and references.
- Contacting universities to inquire about entry requirements and student offers.
- Collaborating with relevant staff from higher education institutions to provide coordinated and streamlined advice for students.
- Following up with and advising students on positive or negative responses to their applications.
- Liaising with universities in Clearing to secure places for students who do not meet the necessary grades for their initial offers.
Qualifications
- Relevant first degree.
- English language to native standard.
- Thorough understanding of and experience in dealing with UCAS and international university application processes and academic requirements for University entrance.
- Excellent ability in written and oral communication.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility and willingness to undertake and learn new tasks.
