Grade 6 to the National and Historical Museum
On Tuesday, May 15th the grade 6 class visited the National and Historical Museum in Athens. Through the exhibition of relics, works of art, weapons, personal items, costumes, maps and other items, our students followed the life and the development of the Greek nation during the Ottoman and Latin rule of Greek lands, the Greek War of Independence of 1821, the formation of the young Hellenic state and its growth, the Balkan wars, the Asia Minor war and the beginnings of World War Two, with the clash of Greece with Italy. Also, they got some ethnographic views of Greek society, through the rich collection of costume, jewelry and household items. Finally, the Greek class participated in an educational program about the everyday life of Greeks during the 18th and 19th century. The students were very impressed by the variety of the exhibition!
