Stress Management Workshop for 11th grade students

In this online class, IB students will learn a proven stress management technique called EFT Tapping that will help them to stay calm, focused and motivated as they prepare for their final IB year. Stress (cortisol, adrenaline, etc) is fine in small doses. We need some stress to stay alert and focused. However, too much stress or fear of failure makes it hard for us to memorize lots of information well, and to avoid distractions. Tapping is an easy self-soothing technique that students can do, before they study or during study breaks, to calm their ‘emotional’ brain down when they are panicky or anxious. When we are extremely stressed and we do some tapping, we move out of the ‘emotional’ brain (the Amygdala) and into the problem-solving, ‘thinking’ part of our brain (the Prefrontal Cortex). This is the part of the brain that is responsible for higher order thinking and reasoning, which IB students need in order to think clearly and memorize, evaluate, analyze, and synthesize large quantities of information with more confidence.
